So today i decided to remove my boyds stock from my B22 Magnum to tinker with the accutrigger. Much to my surprise when i went to remove the action screws, one of the screw heads was missing. I found the screw head some time later where the rifle is stored. So it happened just sitting there. Then to an even much bigger surprise. I learn Savage decided to do the insane thing, and make these rifles use a thread pitch that pretty much does not exist. 12-32x7/8 is the rear action screw on the B22. As luck would have it, the only site i could find offering this exact screw is out of stock. The next best thing is a different savage part number that was 1" long instead of 7/8". Clearly i can make this work but damn. I DO NOT WANT ANOTHER SAVAGE CRAPTASTIC SCREW, but i guess i have no choice. I would really have liked to use a far better quality screw. At this point i'm sure just about anything would be.

Has anyone drilled and re-tapped their rifles to use a normal screw

Tap it to 1/4-28 and then you have plenty to choose from...

$8, ordered a pair of 12-32 x 1. If need be ill cut them down to fit. IF these are a crappy as the savage original and give me any issues. That is my next plan. I sure hope my 110FCP does not have this odd ball crap. Ill have to drill and tap it too.

1/4-28 is exactly what i was thinking would work best. The more i research this, the more it angers me. Seems to be FAR to common of an issue. Such a pointless thing for savage to do.
