I finally had the opportunity to get out to the range, albeit one of the hottest days we have had so far here in Texas, there was only a light wind. All targets but the last were shot at 25 yards. The last one was shot at 50 yards. 5 shots each target. I am very happy with the rifle and ammo performance.

I topped the gun with a 3x9x40 Leuopold Rimfire Scope and added a Harris Bi-pod.

Remington Thunderbolt, one flyer but good grouping for high velocity ammo.

CCI Mini-Mag Hollow Point. Another high velocity round.

Lapua Pistol King standard velocity (850fps)

Laupa X-ACT another standard velocity round (1020fps)

Laupa X-ACT shot at 50 yards. Good group except for the flyer.

What do the groups look like at 100yards? I'll bet the standard velocity stuff will be consistent but the mini mag HP group size will open up - way up. Not sure what the 850 and Remington will produce but it probably won't compare with the SV. At 50 yards and under it doesn't matter what velocity I use in my Savage Mark II BV and A22 but over 50 out to 100 and 135 yards I only use SV - CCI SV (1070). I can't afford Laupa!!!

Speaking of hot - last week in AZ was extremely hot and this week is not much better. Phoenix was unbearable and Tucson, where I live, wasn't much better. I thought about going to the range at 7:30 when it opens (I usually arrive about 9:30 when the early shooters are leaving) but everyone had the same idea. The range has cut the hours and now closes at 12:30. The reason they're using is heat and low attendance in the PM - also the ammo shortage.
