This is my 2nd Savage and my first rimfire. I saw the gun sitting in the LGS' rack. I was surprised it had a Leopold 3x9x40 Rimfire mounted on a Savage rail. I thought the gun was used but the owner had assembled it for a guy he talked to on the phone. This guy put down $150 to get it started, then called and cancelled and told the guy to keep the down payment for his troubles, so I got the setup for $150 less. It shoots great with the larger varmint barrel, but I want to change the plastic stock to a wood one. I'm looking at the Boyd stocks since my other Savage in .308 has one on it. Anyone else have one of these and if so how do you like it.

I've got a similar Mark II that I put into a Boyds Pro Varmint stock to get close to duplicating my .308 HS Precision stock -

I put a Boyd's pro varmint stock on mine and it improved the groups considerably-by 1/2" or more. I would highly recommend the Boyd's stock.
