Just got my new Lefty Axis 6.5 Creedmor, and while unpacking the box, I found the bolt in its bag, the mag in its bag, and the rifle itself in its bag, along with all the paperwork. While cleaning everything, I found a small metal round piece (shaped like a very small hockey puck, about a 1/4 inch diameter, about an 1/8 inch thick) loose in the rifle bag. It has red paint on one side with a dot indention in the middle, and three grooves cut in on the other side. I figured it was just something left in there from the packaging process, but wasn't sure. After the initial cleaning, the bolt and magazine went together with the rifle just fine. With this being my first bolt action Savage, I got to wondering just what this small piece is and if any body else has ever seen this before. It could have easily been overlooked as it is very small, but I am curious since it was just rolling around loose in the bag with the rifle itself. Thanks ahead for any input on what this mysterious piece might be. Happy Memorial Day and Never Forget those who have paid the ultimate price for all of us. God Bless our Military, our LEOs, and our First Responders.

Mystery solved! After a quick trip down to my local gun shop, I found out that the small round piece in question was actually a primer from whatever ammo they use at the factory for test firing a new rifle.
