I just bought a used 110C series J. What does the series J mean? Just trying to learn the rifle. Thanks!

A B C ... J was a designation used to differentiate a series of rifles as they made changes. during this time they made a short action, not as short as the current short actions.

I have a 112J in 25-06. It is a single shot long action with a 26" varmint barrel. It is a 70's vintage gun that still shoots very well for it's age.

To get back on topic, What caliber is it? The J series seems to be a change that allowes a long action to magazine and shoot short action (.308' etc) cartridges. You could change barrels as long as they are for short action cartridges. Changing to long action (it is a 110 long action) you would need to revise the bolt
with different baffles and change magazines to take 30-06 length cartridges. Best bet is to leave it a short action cartridge rifle.

You could go with a longer 30-06 type cartridge but would be loading as a single shot only.

Guys, my Js are .220 and 7 rem mag! J is not just the short action, it was a "time period" in the progression of changes!

Yes mine is a .270 win. so it is a long action with a long action cartridge, I just heard back from Mad Dog and its DOM is 1974 if this helps any. Does this mean if I had the right barrel it could shoot rounds smaller or larger than the .30-06 derivatives with only a barrel change and bolt head change as appropriate? Can I use the same magazine? This is a 110C that has the detachable magazine with the push button on the side of the rifle. By measuring, the magazine should hold a round up to 3.375".

anything based on the 06 will work great. 308 size may work. easy to try with the clip in your hand to start with. my .270 clip feed is now a .30-06AI and soon to be a .25-06
