View Full Version : Vintage barrel nut source?

When I pulled the original barrel off my 1960 110, I realized the original barrel nuts had the rounded edges instead of squared off edges. They look a lot more elegant than the newer barrel nuts and the bluing on those old nuts was superb. Unfortunately the only way I could get that original barrel off was to cut off the nut. :(

I'm wondering if anyone knows a source for those vintage blued barrel nuts. It's not critical I have one. The replacement nut I used looks "okay." But if I could find a vintage nut in good shape, I'd sure use it.

Thanks.

Not vintage, but the round & blued style.

If you search, you’ll find several manufacturers producing their own proprietary barrel nuts for Savage & several other Actions. People are realizing that accuracy via barrel nut system is identical vs shouldered barrels. (To 99.99% of shooters), much to the dismay of many a ‘Smiff out there!

The vintage nuts had a propensity to crack/split if I'm not mistaken.
