This morning I met the gentleman from whom I purchased an unfired 99 358 a couple weeks ago; the plan was to pick up a shooter grade Winchester 64 (1935). However, I ended up bringing home the 64 and this exceptionally nice 99 RS in 300 Sav(1941) The 99 looks almost new - CCH on the lever is beautiful. It also has a Redfield aperture sight mounted to the tang, the swivel studs are flat on the bottom and there’re two fine grooves on the forend that run circumferentially just in front of the sling stud. Sorry I can’t send pictures. Not sure about using an URL.
Serial #414582.

Since picking this 99RS up yesterday, I’ve searched the various auctions and gun sales websites. I was amazed at what they’re selling for. I thought the R and RS were produced in high numbers. What’s the appeal?
I only agreed to bundle it with my M64 because I thought it would compliment the 358 I just picked up.

The R & RS both had a stock designed by Col. Whelen that is much more scope friendly than other models.
That facilitates better shooting IME.
My R in 300 shoots MOA with several factory loads My Pet Load of the 130 TTSX over 4198 nudges 3000 fps, clover leafs 3 and is deadly.

99s in 358 are great rifles albeit serious kickers with the steel buttplate.

If of interest, I have an ANNB Stith mount (left offset) for a Lyman Alaskan to fit your 64.
