Finished up my .450 Bushmaster zombie rifle yesterday. Savage 110 with a Rhineland 18" .450 barrel. Installed a Murphy precision Picatiny rail yesterday. Scope is Leupold VX-R Patrol 1.25 - 4. Ammo is handloaded Hornady 250 gn FTX over 27.7 gn of Lil-Gun touched off with CCI 450 primers. Chrono at 1875. Bipod is a long Harris for seated position shooting. Rifle was shooting sub moa with a Leupold 16x scope which was overkill for the purpose of nailing steel out to 200 yds. Crosshair on the 4x covers the large red square so it's perfect for zombie head shots. Target show 10 rnds shot this morning at 100 yds. Whatta Hobby!

Looks like I got to RVN about 3 months before you returned to the world.

Looks like I got to RVN about 3 months before you returned to the world. I left country December 3rd at 1500 hrs. and landed at Travis AFB December 3rd at 12 noon (after a 16 hour flight). After 30 days leave I headed to Rhein Main AB Germany where I spent 2 years and then 2 years on a radar site 30 clicks from Fulda Germany, Wasserkuppe AS, with the 616th ACW (Aircraft Control and Warning) Sq. on a mountain top 15 clicks from the East German border.

Oct 67 - November 68 for me at Chu Lai. Comm Nav Ident for the F4B. Got back in Nov 68 and after some leave went to MCAS Beaufort, SC for the remainder of my time in the Corps. Loved ever minute of it and planned to re enlist with a nice 10K bonus but found that if I signed I would be going right back to RVN. Wife didn't care for that so I became a civilian and have enjoyed every moment since.

Squadron detail. base detail, snow removal detail, parades and pass in review after an all night GI party and stand by open ranks inspection weekly. i guess I was spoiled by Vietnam with house boys keeping the hooch clean and the JOB was more important that freakin parades. Only detail that sucked over there was burning off the crappers. Life on the radar site was FAR better than at Rhein Main.

Very nice rifle and good shooting! Is it a center feed or stagger feed? I had trouble getting 450 Bushmaster to feed from a center feed magazine. Did you fo anything in particular to get it to function?

Did you fo anything in particular to get it to function? I ran into the same problem your having when I used an Axis for my build. Stagger feed should eliminate the feed problems. I plan on moving my Bushmaster barrel over to a stagger feed action in 308 and move the 308 barrel to the Axis.

This is an older stagger feed and I had no problems whatsoever with this set up.
