I'm actually just a couple miles from the exact center point, but close enough. I found this forum after I bought an Axis in 223 to be used as a coyote gun. I have owned a couple Savages and Stevens rifles. I still have a 1915 Stevens Favorite in 22 lr.
I'm looking forward to building on the Axis with a better trigger and stock. With a recent summer of riots, Covid and an election gone wrong I had trouble finding any rifle in 223. So I settled on this like new used one. Hopefully I can get it to shoot the 36 gr lead free Barnes Varmint Grenades. because I have a good supply of them.
Anyway, Thanks for having me! DR

Welcome to the group. Try looking at Boyd's web site for an Axis stock.

Welcome to the group. Try looking at Boyd's web site for an Axis stock.
I would second Boyd's for a good stock. Not the greatest thing ever, but world of difference between the stock stock and a boyd's laminate. Bang for the buck, hard to beat a boyds. The first thing I would always upgrade on my savages were to get a Boyd's and bed the action. I have a lot of savages (used to be tons, but because of space constraints and to fund some custom builds let some that I didn't use much go), and quite a few of the Savages are in Boyd's At-Ones now, think all that aren't in chassises (chassi, chassis', chassiss, wth is the plural of chassis????) or in factory stocks like the model 12 palma or 112 target magnum.

Had a 12FV 22-250 that wouldn't group very well after break in with any load I tried, bedded into a Boyd's <forget the name now, the one like a manner's t4 profile> and found a load that would do .25 all day, got a few .1s and a single .087. That rifle was the one that got me hooked onto savages, sold every other brand I had at the time (bolt actions) and ran nothing but Savages until I ran out of space in the safe and started upgrading to customs for some of my calibers.

Just pulled it up, pro varmint (can't believe I had forgotten that after buying so many).

Anywho, again, welcome.
