i would like to replace the screws for the cheek riser with thumb screws. Would anyone happen to know the thread pitch of the existing cheek riser screws?

If you are anywhere near an Ace, Lowes, etc you can take the existing screw in and match it using the gauge in the nuts and bolts section.

Yep. Or you could measure the outside diameter with some calipers and use a pitch gauge to check the thread count if you have or know somebody who has the tools.

well the threads are m6 x 1. problem is there is a little brass nub at the end of the set screws that goes through a smaller opening than the thread size itself. so to make it work would require a drill out so the entire replacement screw would put pressure on the cheek riser "pole". so much for easy and quick

I know I'm a little late to this party, but it looks like MDT makes exactly what you're looking for! Check out the Oryx website. (https://oryxchassis.com/us/oryx-buttstock-adjustment-knobs.html)
