All,
I have a barreled action with the detachable mag and frame from a 116 FCSS is .300 Win Mag.
I plan on turning it in to a project gun and had a couple of questions.
I was planning on getting a Boyd's stock to start.
The questions I have are:
Is my barrel contour a magnum or a standard sporter? Where can I find dimensions? What other contours are really close that I could use with the stock?
Is the magnum only for the RUM /SAUM series?
Would I have Standard or Large threading and the associated nuts (take that for what it's worth)?
Is the barrel channel on a Boyd going to be an issue for a magnum?

Thanks,
Jim

You have a lot of good questions.
I can help with the large/small shank part: http://www.savageshooters.com/content.php?127-Savage-Barrel-Shank-Sizes
I am sure others will chime in whith answers to the other questions.

Boyd's stock can be had for heavier varmint weight barrel contours. Your barrel is most likely a standard shank.
