My plan is this: I have a mid grip Savage 516 Striker that I want to make into a rear grip , mag fed , bullseye drilling machine. I have talked to a fellow about a stock for it and he seems to think that if I get bottom metal for it and send it to him , he can inlet it for the new bottom metal. He already has the dimensions for Striker rear grip stock. My only question is : Are the 116 and the 516 the same actions? Besides the trigger differences? And of course, I will swap out the trigger in the striker for a Jard, jewel , or some other compatible trigger.

Thought? Curses?

Please enlighten me.
Thanks to all in advance!

I believe the Striker is stagger feed and the drop magazine is center feed.
You might have an easier time with a center feed action.

AICS mags can be ordered in both configurations IIRC. I am still researching, and will give that a second look. Thanks for bringing that to my attention again.

I would be very interested in bottom metal and magazines that would work on a stagger feed.

When you select the stock, keep this in mind: The action screw spacing is 4.4” but the action screw to recoil lug spacing is different than the 4.4” rifle actions. If the action screw holes are already drilled in the stock, they’ll be in the wrong location.
