So I am the proud new owner of a Stevens Model 200 in .308! And I cannot wait to get in scoped and ready for the hunt. But I figured I would seek out the advise of those already with the knowledge. What is the best factory round for this .308 with the 110 Action?

Right now I am having good results with the Remington 150gr Core Lokt.

Congratulations on the new .308! Winchester Super X 150grain shoot reliable and are cheap but I recommend Federal Fusion 150 or 165 grain ammo for deer. Federal Gold Medal Match 168 grain ammo is the most accurate factory cartridge in any .308.

Thanks for the replies. I figured there would be more than a few on a Savage specific forum with the 110 action being so popular.

Federal GMM 168 or Black Hills Match 168s or 175s are all excellent factory loads for accuracy. It is a little pricey. Get the cheap white box Winny stuff from Wally World or Academy for break and sign-in. Have fun with your 308. Tim

Ditto, Try some HSM 175gr A-max, mine shoots the heck out of it! 10 twist

Hornady TAP has been very good in SEVERAL 308's that I have shot or watched at the range.

Dont use those fusion bullets unless you shoot em in the neck, way to much bloodshot meat

You won't know what your rifle likes until you try a few different brands.

Don't have a Savage 308, but I do have a 7mm-8 and .22-250. While I reload for every gun I own, the factory ammo I got with the 7mm-08, WW Supreme 140 gr. shot well for my Stryker. Rem 55gr. Core-lokt HPs killed a great 8 pt. buck for me. My favorite .308s, A H&R Handi-rifle with a 20" Heavy Barrel and a Rem 700 Sendero in .308, are all right now zeroed with HornadyLight Mag 150gr. SSTs. The Sendero breaks 3000 fps with that load. I couldn't match that reloading. With the new Hornady Superformsnce ammo and powder fixing to hit the market all bets are off! Example- my favorite 100gr. .243 Hornady Lt Mag Load broke 3100 fps in a 24" bbl rifle-the new load breaks 3400fps with less pressure & recoil!
