Bass pro and cabelas has the 10T-SR certain calibers on sale for 450. I got to thinking 1. Maybe it will be a hummer from the get go or 2. If not, can sell the barrel and stock and have a nice price on an action and bottom metals for future build. I am not a fan of the bottom release but I think i talked myself into the 6.5 cm option

I bought a 10T-SR in 6.5mm Creedmoor about a year ago to be a loading mule for a more expensive Savage 12 LRP so I could save the 26-inch barrel on the 12 LRP..
The 10T-SR was a great shooter right out of the box (averaging 0.383 inches for the 175 5-round groups that i shot with it). The top 24 loads average 0.324.

I have found that barrels are sometimes particular about what bullets they shoot best and the 12 LRP shot 140 to 147 grain bullets best but the 24-inch barrel 10T-SR shot 130 and 140 grain bullets best.

I then got a 26-inch barrel 12 FV on sale for $320 and it had the same bullet preferences as the 12 LRP. I doubt the barrel length made the difference in bullet preference but the 12 FV was a better match for a development mule.

I eventually gave the 10T-SR to my granddaughter because they shoot with suppressors on their property in the mountains and she shot the 10T-SR very well.

I wonder if there are any actually available. I checked stores within about 150 miles of me for that and also the model 12FV I believe it is called and none of the stores had any. Easy to advertise a low price if you don't have it.

I've been seeing a lot of this at several retailers. Am subscribed to a few and always makes me shake my head when I get an email notice of a sale only to find the sale items out of stock. How can you have a "sale" on something out of stock? Have seen this at Midway, Shooters Pro Shop, Cabelas, Brownells, etc. :der:

And how are you able to shoot these "out of stock" rifles if there is no ammo either? Of course, you may have ammo already.

As the OP mentioned, the 10TSR has the bottom bolt release. If you don't like to tinker or modify, it may be not be a big deal. I have re-stocked and re-triggered some of the 12FVs, and the top bolt release makes that much easier.

My internet is showing the 6.5cm in stock for ship to store. I have one on the way. I have 7 or 8 lbs of 4350 and 5 or 600 bullets so I should be ok there

I figured if it shoots half or better, great! If its sub par strip it down and sell the parts for a cheap action!

Well shoot, you're good to go then! I rebarreled one of my 12FV to a 28" 6.5 Creedmoor and I have been very happy with it. So far, it is the most accurate rifle I own. Very fun round.
