I have a savage 99 with integral front sight base. Are they all solid smooth pins or are there threaded versions? Someone marred the pin bad almost looks like it had a standard screw driver slot or they used a screw driver as a punch. This is my first 99, hate to wreck that base.

Thanks

I figured it out for anybody that may be interested. It is not pinned. It is a threaded set screw, which should have had a slotted head.

My 99 has that same front sight and it's a screw. And, again, it's slot is so badly chewed that I'll probably never have it removed/replaced. My front blade started with a gold bead on it but it got knocked off many years ago and I haven't seen anything to replace it.
