Good Morning,

It appears ordering a 12 VLP in my area isn't likely to happen anytime soon. If I decided to purchase a Model 10 in .308 and swap the barrel (which I have experience with) to .223, would I only need to replaced the bolt head with one that's properly sized for .223?

Thanks
joe

joeI believe you are correct. Ask sharpshooter or robinhood.. they would be able to confirm but im almost certain bolt and firing pin are all you need.

Just the bolthead and the magazine, if you are going to use one.

Donor rifle acquired.....picked up a 10PT-SR this afternoon. Originally, I was only after the action (planned to sell the barrel and the stock), however, this rifle came with a 16.5" bull barrel, and aside from the OEM stock, it's pretty darn slick. Since I already shoot .308, I might have to shoot this one for a bit before I decide on how to proceed with this project. I'm thinking this might be a good candidate for an MDT XRS regardless though.

I'll just add that you should check firing pin protrusion and adjust if needed.
