So I picked up this old but brand new Savage 110 .270 package gun off GB for $250. My plan was to tear it apart for a build but once I got it I noticed a few oddities (at least to me).

1) integral two pice mounts. Appears to be machined in action

2) odd machining on front of action. Appears to be opened up more to help eject the round?

Anyone seen these features on older models? I have dissembled the entire rifle and it does indeed look unfired.

I would say you got a pretty good deal there. I have a .25-06 package gun I got years ago...well maybe decades. But I don’t recall if it had integrated scope mounts or not.

I also have a .270 I am going to rebarrel to 6.5x55 swed.

Sweet find!
Don’t tear it apart.

That is my dilemma.. I don’t think I will. Gonna put a better scope and rings on it and shoot it I think. Now I’ve got to find another long action..
