Hello everyone how is it going on? I have a new rifle project build based on the savage .223 rifle. my concern is what is the bolt face size of the bolt? I want to convert the .223 to the 7x33 Sako round.. now the sako round is based entirely on the 9mm parabellum case super stretched to 33mm long. the 9mm parabellum uses a head diameter of .390 whereas the .223 is .378-.380 so I can go into 2 directions, one if the bolt face will accommodate the .390 size I can use Bertram brass. if the bolt face cannot fit the .390 but does fit the .378-.380 dimension I can use 350 Legend brass to form 7x33 sako brass so project is still a go I will just have to message the go-no go gauges to fit the smaller bolt face..........has anyone tried a conversion like this before on the .223 Axis platform? Ohh as an afterthought can the bolt be turned to the larger ID if nessesary ?? thanks for your input Rusty

You only need to open the bolt head face .015"-.020" or .075"-.010" per side if using the original brass. I don't see any problem that cannot be fixed.
