Hey I'm new here trying to figure this out but I've owned a axis 223 bolt with 1:9 twist barrel and I was told when I bought it I couldn't shoot FMJ bullets through it because the jacket would hurt the rifling. My question is, is that true or false? I've shot nothing but vmax in it its whole life because of that, I feel like this is a stupid question that I should know!

It’s fine. Shoot the wheels off of that gun. Might even get better after 400rds.

Keep it clean.

My favorite bullet is a full metal jacket. It has a little thin tip hollow point, with the lead in the rear.

But why not shoot steel?

Because you will be asking why am I having problem extracting my ammo afterwards. Then you will be asking how to polish your chamber.

Not all steel case ammo will cause a problem but enough will to just stay away. It is the lacquer or polymer coating they put on the steel to keep it from rusting. It gets very hot and transfers to the chamber.
