Hi... This is my first post. I have a chance to but a single shot model 30R17 falling block rifle. Do any of you guys/gals have one and what do you think of it?
Thanks,
Tomcatt

I bought one new when they first came out. The .17 is no longer offered. Makes 125 yard gun out of the little Favorite. I put a reproduction of the original Stevens Tang sight and a globe front sight on mine. Got the sights from Cape Outfitters. Have to have tang drilled and tapped for the tang sight. Trigger pull is pretty stiff out of the box. Gets better the more you shoot it but a trigger could use some work. It is no target rifle but accuracy is good for a small light rifle. The originally came with mounts for modern scope. If they are with the gun this is an option. I like mine but then I have several originals and several of the '70's version of the Favorite also.

Thanks for the reply. The one I'm thinking about is new /never fired. It has a 3X9 scope on it, don't know what kind. The older gentleman that has it is asking $200. Is this a fair price?

When the 22 LR sells for $358 and the 17's are no longer offered, I'd say if you want the model 30, jump on it. A new one for $200? Oh yea.
