I've red that .338 lapua magnum actions are a bit different to other (a bit longer lugs, hardening process, etc). The question is... is the 300 PRC elite precision exactky the same action that .338 lapua magnym elite precision? Besides the bolt face diameter ofcourse. Does both chassies use the same magasine lenghts?

best regards
Tom

I can't answer your question but, I'm sure some will come along that can answer your question.

I'd bet that they are just for simplicity of manufacturing and the ones I've seen appear to be. But the expert, Sharpshooter should be able to give you a definite answer.

I hope he will :) It would be quite easy if someone had both guns in shop. If the lugs are of the same diameter all should be the same. Measurment of magasines is also an easy task. Still no answer from savage arms customer support. And dealership in Poland told me that thay will have 300 prc in 2 months without answering any questions. That's the reason that iv'e registered here ;)

That's a mess to choose a new caliber. I've red that there is already 300 PRC improved... That story never ends :P

Besides that i'm quite mad thet hornady didn't usue 300 wsm base size for 300 prc... That means a new shellholder set for me... and fireforming from 8x68s means another shellholder set :/ On the other side... .338 lapua means new bushings, and the price for .338 bulets is twice as high as .308 in Poland :/ And the savage action may not be optimal for .330LM.

The safest thing to do if you're wanting to switch back and forth between 338 Lapua and 300 PRC, is to buy a 338 first. That way you know you have the right action for it that will also handle the 300.
