My scope on the 3006 I was planning to use thin season took a shit today while I was sighting it in. the left/right turret is no longer attached to the reticle. I could pull a scope off another gun or just hunt with another since most are sighted in but I just really like using this light weight 110.
I'm considering Mueller Optics 8-32x44mm Side Focus Target Dot Riflescope MU83244TD for $259 ( I have one and it's great)

or a
Sightron S-TAC 3-16x42 Riflescope for $249 (which is a little over what I'd like to spend)

Anyone have any suggestions.

3 requirements
Enough power to sight in @ 100 yds without breaking out the spotting scope
Clarity.
Will reliably hold zero.

I just found the Sightron for $249. Anyone have one are they any good

Reliably hold zero? The only scopes in the $300 range that I trust to be reliable are the SWFA 2.5x10 Lightweight and the SWFA fixed six power. The SWFA fixed 10 power scope will do it too, but I don't find a fixed 10 power scope useful for hunting.

If you can step up in price, the SWFA 3x9 or 3x15 are even better, but above your set price.

After I saw the list price of $749 on the Sightron and the sale price of $249 I pulled the trigger, I'm a sucker for a deal, reviews look good hopefully I'll like it.

I have only had one sightron, and it was a closeout at $100, regular price was IIRC about 300. The glass was good and no problems on my axis .223. Good luck!

You don't hear much about it but Mueller is a decent scope. I just
don't know I would personally put it on a hunting rifle. It's more suited
for bench work. 8 power on the 8x32 may also be too high for them
quick sighters. They do have some other good hunting scopes at bargain
prices.

Pulling a 6-24x50 30mm tube Bushnell Elite (with illumination) today, But I'll
be asking $600

I received the scope and couldn’t be happier for the price. It ended up of the Remington 700 for when I go hunt with High class people who think deer rifles need wood stocks and put the mueller on my favorite 110.

Good to hear you like that S-Tac. I have one of the 4-20x50mm 30mm tube S-Tacs and it seems just as well made as my multiple 8-32x56 SIII Sightrons for about half the price. The covered knobs on the 4-20x are a bit tall for my liking. I would like to see a model offered with a significantly lower profile knob, covered or not, that kept the same amount of travel.

The sightron has worked out great. Used it to harvest 3 deer this year. On another note I needed a cheap air rifle capable scope for my new 22 Gamo Urban PCP. I bought a CenterPoint 3x9x32 illuminated. This sucker is Chrystal clear and the mil dots are great for adjusting for distance on the air rifle. We don’t have to worry about wasting ammo practicing I have plenty of air o-rings and lead to make my own slugs if needed.

Midway has the Bushnell Nitro series scopes on sale right now. I have three of them now on a few different hunting rifles and I have been very happy with them thus far. I have two 2.5-10x44s on the .223 and 6.5 Grendel and I have a 6.5-20x44 on a .308 match rifle that has held up just fine as well. I was very Leary of a Bushnell but they seem very well made and reliable for a couple years now.

I’ve owned a lot of scopes over the years and the Sightron S-Tac has been one of the best $300 and under scopes I’ve found. Amazing glass, side focus and very good tracking for the money.

Sightron used to have the SII Big Sky line. I wonder why you never see one for sale....oh wait......I actually don't wonder why. Sightron has marketed some very decent scopes.

I have 2 of the Nitro scopes. So far I have been happy with them. I also think the Redfield Revolution is a great scope for the money. It will stand up to a big caliber, is clear with excellent eye relief. I had a Vortex Viper on a rifle that I installed after the Revolution because it was shooting so well with the Redfield I wanted to see what it would do with a higher power. It was all over the place and I blamed a lot of things. Finally put the Redfield on and it was grouping good again. Vortex is junk unless you spend big money. Unfortunately, I don't think they are being made anymore. I think basically the same scope is available from Leupold but it is about another $100.
