I will taking this rifle with a new Vortex scope back to Wyoming next year for mule deer. I am eager to see how it performs with factory and handload ammo.

If you hand load, you can get the 300 to perform close to 308 Win velocities. Savage puts some nice walnut stocks on the anniversary addition.

No knocking the .300 Savage, for sure. Still have an early edition of
the 99. It's favorite diet was the original 150 grain Winchester Silver

IMt dad used the Silver tio ammo in his 99. I purchased a 99 CE in July, although unfired I'm not the guy that keeps one as an ornament. It's a beautiful 99 I plan on keeping for life and definitely using it out west as well.
