Hello,

I have an Axis in 6.5 CM that I have been doing a bit of work to. I've done the trigger, stock, and soon to do a barrel. One thing still bothers me though and I'm not sure how to fix it. When I run the bolt, if I'm not careful to pull it perfectly straight back, it binds and won't move. I'm not sure if it's just because there is so much slop in between the bolt and the action once disengaged or if there is something else, but it gets a bit annoying if I am in an odd shooting position and can't move just right.

I've tried both gun oil and grease, and nothing seems to really help.

Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

I have a rounded jewelers file. At a low angle I file an angle on the entry opening. Very slight angle and a very small amount of material removed. The jewelers files are not cheap. Some Cratex and a Dremel may work wonders too although I have not tried it. It has worked wonders on a few actions. Not so much on others.

I bought my Axis in 6.5 CM in the latter part of December last year and I haven't had any problems with it including the bolt function. I'm thinking maybe contact Savage about this.
