Does anyone know for certain how the short rib that the scope base screws onto is attached to the top of the barrels? Is it brazed, silver soldered or is it TIG welded?

I urgently need to know

Spot welded.

Spot welded.

Thank you for the quick reply.
But could you please be a little more specific?
I cannot see any evidence of welding on the rib although there is a thin line of what appears to be filler from a solder/brazing process visible along the bottom of the seam between the rib and the upper barrel. However if Savage used a TIG process it could have a similar appearance

Savage never tig welded anything. When it came to shot gun assembly, it was either spot welded, furnace brazed, or ultra sonic. What is your concern? Are you trying to remove it?

Actually I'm trying not to remove it; long story. Based on what I can see, I'd have to bet on brazed
