My eyes aren't what they used to be. I want to keep my old 64 as open sights, but I'd like to upgrade to fiber optic - or some other upgrade.

Does anyone have any experience or recommendations?

Hi guys, my 64 just came with mounts so I chose to get a scope. I started with a 4x off one of my airguns, but didn't do well at 50yds. I got a 3-9 Bushnell and that lasted a couple years. I just got a new Bushnell Engage 6-18 for my .308 so the previous scope there came over to the 64. It now has a 4-12 Vortex (Friday) and I got it zeroed and added a Reflex on top. That's good for quick shots (5 in one hole @ 25) then the V for longer ones.

I would suggest that you get a good Reflex or a med price scope. I'm 70 and appreciate the glass more than irons. And I had a double cataract lens replacement. No glasses but the scope makes it easier than irons. I had an SKS and was good with irons but prefer scopes. I got a Marlin 60 last year and didn't even try the irons, went to a scope right away. Irons are there if the scope breaks!

Unfortunately iron sights on rifles are an obscurity anymore, which has made finding good aftermarket sight options all but impossible. Factor it it's for a rimfire and you delve even deeper into the abyss.

Decided I'd take chance on this Tru-glo sight. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B000O7D2Z4/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I'll let you know how it works out.

Well that was easy enough. Took all of about 5 minutes. First impressions are it looks pretty good. I won't be able to sight it in until later in the week.

I just ordered the .450" for my Model 62. Should be here by the weekend, I'll let you know how installation goes and how well it works.

I ordered the .450 and it was perfect. I've always had to have my rear sight set as low as it would go. That put very little pressure on the adjustment ramp and made it easy to knock out.

This .450 front sight allowed me to raise the rear sight by one notch, which makes me feel better about the stability.

I took it out yesterday and I have to say the fiber optic sight is a 300% improvement in visibility over the iron sight!

Got this Trijicon knock off for Christmas and installed it on my 62F. Heading to the range on Sunday to finally sight it in.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210203/0023398854dbc9bbc03c64d68f4e5610.jpg

I was in the same boat, wanting a new and improved iron sight. But I ended up getting a new scope for a different rifle so I put the old scope on the 64. Its a Riton 4x32 and its real nice for what it is.
I like the quick target acquisition that irons bring to the table, but shooting smaller targets further away with the scope is fun too.

If the ammo situation doesn’t change mine are going to become “show pieces” I guess...

If the ammo situation doesn’t change mine are going to become “show pieces” I guess...Agreed. I only put 150 rounds down range of .22, 20 of .308 and 25 of 12 gauge. No 9mm has been fired in 11 months for myself.

A few weeks ago I purchased some .22 from Optics Planet that were on back order. I’m not sure if I should cancel and get my $ back or wait for a Christmas miracle.

It's been a while since I got the sights and hadn't posted the results yet, sorry.

The installation was not a problem, maybe 5 minutes and no broken parts or other problems.

The sights are highly visible and it shoots to point of aim with no additional adjustments.

If I had another 64 or 62 I would order another one again.
