Does the hype about after market squared recoil lugs & bbl. nuts really come into "play" when changing Bbl's and striving for < MOA ??

Not for <1MOA. If you want to try for .1 or .2 then you should probably true up everything.

I don't know how much or if it helps, but I ordered both the nut and the recoil lug for both of my builds. I used CBI barrels on both as well. both my 22-250 and my .260 are .5 MOA shooters. My barrel nuts got all messed up (smooth nuts) when I took them off, so I put the notched nut on when I installed the new barrels. I wanted every bit of "improved accuracy" I could get, so I figured why the heck not. What's another $60 when you're into for $800+ already.

The recoil lug just looked better cosmetically, and if I remember correctly, a bit thicker and robust.

What SageRat Shooter said.

I think the Savage recoil lug is a bit dinky compared to an aftermarket version. I would definitely upgrade to the recoil lug and also a barrel nut if upgrading the barrel. However, if I had to pick between the two, I would upgrade the lug and keep the barrel nut, which is what I did on my factory 12FV 22-250 barrel I took off to have the muzzle threaded. I felt like the upgrading the factory barrel nut on a factory barrel wasn't worth it. Also, aftermarket recoil lugs and barrel nuts tend to be in stainless steel, which clash with the factory barrel IMO. The stainless lug only, looks OK to me. This is all opinionated, so take it for what it is worth.

I'd probably leave it as is then. When time to replace barrel, then just use the parts that were fitted to your rifle.

Thank you all, I decided I don't want to start another collection of bullets, dies, ect for a 6.5 CM. I already have everything I need for 6 BR, Probably going with a new Bbl in 6 BR.

If you are talking about a 10BA Stealth, the recoil lug on that model is thicker than your standard Savage factory lug.

That's the one, Thanks for the info, Is the BA lug the same size as the after market lugs sold by NSS ? I figered I get lug & bbl. nut along with a new 6 MM bbl.

I can't say whether the lug is any thicker then what NSS has on the
the shelf but it was my understanding that the Stealth came from the
factory, trued. In that respect. Just get a barrel and don't over think
it.

I never measured mine but I doubt that it is any better than the NSS lug.
