Hi, first post on this forum.

I read that Mr John Callahan retired 4 years ago or so and that Savage now handle historical factory letters. I did not find any information on the Savage web site about this.

Does anyone have any detailed information as to the extent of the Savage archive, such as date range? Has anyone on the forum ever had access to the archive and is there a publicly accessible list of the contents of the archive?

My main interest is in the two World War periods of 1914-1918 and 1939-1945.

The Savage Arms company now keeps the old ledger records for vintage firearms. Contact their customer service dept. They don't have the depth of experience that Mr. Callahan brought to the archives, but they continue to try and learn. You might also contact the other Savage Collector's forums for like-minded references.

Have just found out from Cody the Savage records are on the way to Cody.

No details as to timing or when a catalogue of the contents will be available, or when a 'letter' will be able to be sent.
