My wife and I made a trip to Texas earlier in the week. We went to pick up some very nice and rare Savage pistols. Left to right in the first picture, Savage Model 1907 with very rare "Tuxedo" grips. In the middle is a miniature 1907 2mm. It actually shoots. On the right is a very rare nickel Model 1907 .380.

Beautiful.

Always liked the looks of that pistol (though not a fan of mother-of-pearl grips). It did very well in .45 caliber against the 1907 Colt entry in competition for the Gov contract (that became the 1911). The Savage was more accurate and had fewer parts, but the example jammed more. The Army was undecided between the Colt and Savage as the final two competators and ordered 200 of each for field testing; and for some reason Savage backed out.

The little Kolibri(?) guy is sweet.

The little Kolibri(?) guy is sweet.Actually Savage did deliver 200 pistols in 45 to the Army for field testing. The Savage pistol lost in the end, but they fought for it all the way through. The military testing did probably result in Savage introducing the civilian line of 32 and 380 pistols, so it definitely wasn't wasted effort.

And those are beautiful guns! Congrats!
