What mag are you guys running in the Oryx chassis? I have an Oryx on the way and trying to decide which mag to get for it. It will be for 6.5 Creedmoor and maybe get used on a 260 rem also. I'd like to get the MDT metal mag without binder plate for the longer COAL but didn't know if they worked with the Savages. My 260 Rem is loaded over 2.900".

Magpul 5/10 round AICS mags work great in all of mine for .243, .308, and .22-250. For my .223 action I use MDT plastic mags and modified Ruger RPR mags.

I don't know about the 6.5 but I just installed a Orys chassis on my Savage Axix 223 . I bought the MDT Polymer Magazine and there is plenty of room for any over all length that I could possable load. The Magazine works very good. Installs easy and feeds wonderful, much better than Savage Magazine.

I like the Magpul. But it won’t support 2.900” I think I measured 2.830” max.

Magpul's info says 2.86" max, but I can get 2.87" out of mine.

I bought the Magpul 10 round mag for my Oryx chassis for my 6.5mm CM but it wouldn't let me seat out far enough to get to the jump I wanted.
The Brownell's 5 round AICS mag (for the .308 short action - part number 100-014-686WB (http://www.brownells.com/magazines/rifle-magazines/magazines/short-action-aics-magazine-308-winchester-8rd-polymer-blk-sku100014686-68685-139077.aspx)) @ $39.99 gives me just short of 2.900 O.A.L.
I shot a load of 140 ELD-Ms seated at 2.898 on Wednesday with no problems.

That was it! Don’t know why .830” was sticking in my head. I got the same. Measured 2.870” to fit.

I don't have an Oryx, but I just got a different MDT chassis for my savage. The MDT polymer mags work well and the new gen 2 ones that just came out allow 2.87" OAL. The steel with binder plate MDT mags also allow 2.87" OAL. I do not have any of the no binder plate steel mags, but I can tell from looking at it with the mags I have that the feed ramp would need to be modified. The feed ramp is close to the center of the binder plate, so you'd have to take about 5 thou out of the feed ramp to keep the bullets from snagging it. Could probably be done with a file at home, although I've never done it.

My receiver is from a 110 tactical short action and the chassis is an MDT LSS XL Gen 2.

Check out Accurate Mag. They have a bunch of AI compatible mags. They are great quality and the price isn't bad.

Thank you everyone. I went ahead and ordered a MDT metal mag without binder plate. If there is a clearance issue, which I'm sure there will be, then I'll just mill a notch in the feed ramp.
