The newer savages are shooters.
Bought a new take off stock from a 6.5creed heavy barrel. Non accu stock and blind mag.
Has a few more features than my old plastic 10 stock and it was only 40$ so I though what the crap, I will see how she fits.

Well obviously pretty good[emoji4]
I did have to put some washers under my rear action/trigger guard screw so it wasn’t pinning the bolt.
I had to drimel out the rear trigger guard screw hole inside the stock a bit so my modified trigger would fit.
So I bedded the front of the action and the lug.
After I broke it apart to put the gun back together I was amazed at how well it fit without the added material.. or lack of material I needed to blue print it.

These new stocks are a lot better than the older ones. Barrel floats out healthy and the fore end is a lot more ridged. I used to have to fill up the grid with bedding stuff to stiffen em up.

Looks great, Hamilton. Good job doing the work yourself. I'll be interested in how she shoots.

It was bedded in a stock before. It’s a MOA gun. I’ve shot some groups in the .2s
This guns purpose is for mid range 350-700yd plates. Haven’t ever had a chance to go further.

Thanks I enjoy tinkering.

Indeed...Quite common a thing here. Seems to be quite a widespread occurrence with Savage enthusiasts. LOL!:becky:

Nice rig. Enjoy it.

What Dave said !! I think after breakfast, I'll see about cleaning up
the mess on the bench. Another project in full swing, and a Savage
target action came in yesterday.

reminds me of a particular 7-08 build. Best hunter ever.
