If your top tier list is closed I would say your next bet is Bartlein. Bartlein should be top tier with the best.

Second level would be top button rifled. Shillen and pac nor an a few others in the second group maybe some from your top tier in there. Probably put criterion and maybe McGowan in there too.

Third, Xcaliber, Wilson etc...

Green Mountain and Shaw etc...

yep, the copy & paste thing didn't pick up the Bartlein fot the 1st tier. The link by JKV45 was interesting, user preference putting X caliber where it did, and especially the bbl. profiles. Good thing they use the "erector set" stocks or they would come close to being classified as "crew served weapons"

If it’s a survey I can’t see it. Tapatalk user.

The best I’ve had have been Hart and Lilja. Both button pullers. I’ve got some good X-Calibers and a very good Wilson from Ragged Hole. I want to try a Bartlein next, Frank is a contributor here and seems like a very matter of fact feller from his posts here and a fascinating podcast I listened to recently about gain twists.

I’m sure I could be corrected, but in my mind...
First...the WI based cut rifled barrel makers...Obermeyer, Kreiger, Rock Creek, Brux, Bartlein, K&P, etc

Then there are the proven button rifle folks....Lilja, Hart, Shilen, Pac-Nor, etc

Then there are guys that make great barrels that I’m not sure where they fit in, but they make good bullet throwers.....Mullerworks, Benchmark, Douglas, Broughton, Schneider, Criterion, Lothar Walther, Proof Research, Hawk Hill, Masterpiece Arms, HS Precision, Wilson, etc

The above names all have excellent track records and are known to deliver consistent quality.

Then there is Shaw , EABCO, Green Mountain, Bergara, etc....these guys all do a fine business, but seem to take some shortcuts that keep them off of competitors rifles, but also keep prices a notch lower.

Then there are companies like McGowen, XCaliber, etc that just don’t seem to deliver consistent good barrels and can’t stop the bad from leaving out their front door.

For clarity, I’m not an expert. I own a WOA made a Wilson AR15 Barrel, A Rock Creek on my Savage chassis build(unfixed), and have a Brux on order.

Best group so far from the Wilson....

If you're shooting for money,I'd agree with going with a cut rifled barrel. If you just enjoy shooting for fun with friends or most local matches it really doesn't matter, most guy's would never know the difference between a cut or button rifled barrel.
Currently,I'm running Shilen, McGowen, Krieger, X-Caliber, Lilja, White Oak, Wilson, and E.R.Shaw barrels on a bunch of rifles. They all shoot great with hand loads. I find it funny that people rate Shaw barrels so far down the list. The smallest groups that I've ever shot out of any of my bolt actions were with Shaw barrels, and they consistently shoot tiny groups.
Almost any name brand barrel made today will easily shoot sub-moa groups with very little load tuning, and most will do 1/2 moa or better off a bench, even with gas guns.

Anyone know why Brux isn't listed in this chart about popular PRS/NRL rifle barrels?

I thought they are a big player in some type of rifle discipline.

Being from WI, I find it interesting that a lot of the heavy hitters in the barrel industry are from WI. I live about 10 mi from Brux.

Not real sure but in certain crowds there is a following, Or we say
the "Lemming" factor !! Robin Arduin, an excellent F-class shooter
sent me some equipment list data a year or so ago. Seems most
had a Brux spun up, and topped by a Night force. Good to see on there
about some Savage actions in the upper mix. of the 6 I could trace,
only one had a traditional nut and the rest were shouldered.....I shoot
Brux on one build and it's money well spent. Shot Kreiger, Hart, Douglas,
Shilen, and Criterion. Never shot a Bartlien, but that changes shortly.
The brown truck has one on the way for a wildcat project.

I forgot about the Wilson barrels On my RRA's....Shooters also for the
intent.

Any more info on this or even a contact ?? The only ABC I'm aware of is a
AR parts re-hasher out of Vegas.

Robinhood I do have one 30BR 17.5 twist, threaded with a shoulder shoots like a laser. Gun smith said it was right up there with what is considered the best for short range BR. I am now waiting for a 8 twist 6mm.

fuj' you need to go to accurate shooter and see if you can contact Oliver88. He has a web site just not ready to turn on. Next time I talk to him I will ask if he wants me to give his number out, or his address.
