Has anyone successfully modified the factory .223 Remington center-feed magazines to accept longer cartridges (about .308 Winchester length)? It looks easy enough to remove the block in the back of the magazine. But, the lips don't extend to the rear of the magazine. Does something like the VLD bullet feed properly if the block is simply removed?
