Had a 110 years ago in 7MM Magnum that had the integral brake on it....brake is not removable and looks like the Shrewd brake that Brownells sells but it is part of the barrel. Just found another that is in very good condition. Anyone know how long Savage made these or when they quit? Figure it was sometime between 1982 and 1989 but not sure.

They actually still use this brake on the 110 bear hunter... i had a 270 and 7mm with the stainless fluted barrel and muzzle brake

Without knowing the specifics of the brake, it's removable.
Absent being pinned and welded (which it's assuredly not), it'll come off...

Nope it is integral with the barrel. The barrel came from Savage this way...it is not a modification of the original Savage barrel.

Had one years ago in 7MM Magnum that had the integral brake on it. Got it at Walmart.

Never seen any rifle or barrel manufacturer do anything like that.

Sure it's not this?

I can't see a threaded joint in the picture, but when done correctly a profiled brake will have a near invisible connection. Like trying to find a taper pin that's been installed and ground flush...

If that is integral to the barrel I'd like to see info on what/how they did it. Drilling/milling holes in a rifle barrel creates burrs in the rifling- think semi AO gas port on steroids many times over. Why Magnaporting is done by EDM...

Me too. Like I said I bought one at Walmart years ago...it was factory Savage , 110E, flat back, matte finish, 7mm Magnum. Friend I sold it too still has it.

I've seen a few like that, they don't really have any specific time period when they did it, as I've seen some form the '80's and some from early 2000's. They drilled the barrel, then counter bored the muzzle.
