Is their a company that makes bolt heads for savage with the ejector the comes through the bottom side of bolt like on the maginums ?
i have a 7mm rem mag and i would like to change the bolt head to a non maginum. something more along the lines of a .473 but still keep the long action .
However Pacific Tool and Gauge does not make a bolt head were the ejector rides on the bottom side of the bolt and comes through a slot .. What can i do to change this style of ejector

If I may make a suggestion. Get the bolt head that does not have a standing ejector that is the size you want. Install it. Now pull the trigger hanger pin out and remove the standing ejector. Replace the trigger and hanger pin without the standing ejector installed. Replace the barreled action into the stock. Go shoot.

I thought their was more to changing it from a controlled round feed to push feed

The correct magazine and adjusting the firing pin protrusion is all.

You have a stagger fed Control Round Feed (CRF) action. It has a slot machined in the hanger pin hole, for the part shown below, that push feed actions do not have. That is the only difference I am aware of. The hole at one end is where the hanger pin passes through. The action in every other way is the same as non control round feed actions made that year. This part once removed will actually allow the bolt to move without the drag pressure of the ejector so it will feel smoother.

Keep your parts they may be valuable one day as the CRF is desirable As cowboybart eluded to. A trade would be a good idea if the actions were in comparable condition and function.

110 Blind mag, stagger feed, was a 270 or 30-06 (I forget), blued or I have the same in Bronze CeraKote. I'm looking for a magnum action as my brother wants a 300 Win Mag. I've heard that changing the bolthead on mine to a magnum, leaves to door open for feeding issues.

I'm not looking for a collector piece, I just want to start off with a magnum action.

Due to Savage not offering parts support for the stagger feeds, is there a source for the mag and follower?? I don't want to chase used parts all over the internet in order to complete this rifle.

ok if i replace the standard savage mag bolt head with controlled round feed to a PTG push feed style will i need to rehead space it ?

Headspace and firing pin protrusion. You should find a spot between .035" and .044". If you take you calipers and measure the length of the lugs on the Bolt Head. Post it here. The PTG might be shorter by a 1/16th which is not a problem. This is why resetting the firing pin protrusion is critical.

crap i was hoping to not have to yank the barrel off and re head space it
