I mounted my trusty SWIFT 4-12x40 PARALAX scope on my new 93 BTVS .22WMR. I used a Bushnell Laser Boresighter to set the scope up at 50 yards at my home.

Went to the range today and shot the following 6 targets at 50 yards. The first 5 targets are 5 shot magazine using some 10 year old WINCHESTER SuperX 40GR Full Metal Jacket bullets. I wanted to use them up while setting up the scope. No scope changes were made at all during this shoot.

I did not have time to do any more shooting but next time out I will zero it in tighter. I can't complain about the 3 groupings of the cheaper Winchester SuperX especially compared to the Remington Premier that is the most expensive box I have bought. The Hornady VMAX was the tightest group of all. In target 6 the one stray at the bottom of the 10 shot group (5 Hornady and 5 Remington) was a Remington Premier. Not sure why that one dropped - it may have been me. We will give it the benefit of the doubt until I can shoot more.

Next time out after I zero in the scope I will compare some CCI Mags, and looking for some RWS, Federal, and anything else I can locate along with the Hornady VMAX and the Remington Premier ACCUTIP

CAN SAVAGE RIMFIRES SHOOT STRAIGHT OUT OF THE BOX? YOU BETCHA!!!

Just curious,GB,did you do anything to break-in the barrel,or just go out and shoot it?

Cleaned the factory lube off the bolt and a drop of Hoppes Limited oil. Ran a dry Hoppes Boresnake through the barrel once before shooting at the range then once after done. I can't relay the joy I felt when I shot that first group of 5 and then all the others that followed so closely.

I know just how you feel. I started doing a long process to break-in my new 12 fcv, then said why? and shot it for group. I was very impressed with penny sized 100 yard groups. Did buy that .17 for my grandson, can hardly wait to see his face Christmas day!
