Do the 93R models suffer from the same weak extraction issues that plague the Mark II?

Yep - both models use the exact same design.

Bill-use a new bore brush and do a good cleaning in the breech area, and make sure the openings at 9 & 3 o'clock are clean so the extractor arm can get a good bite.

I appreciate the advice. I only asked about the 93R only because my brother was looking at one. He decided on the B series instead. I no longer have the Mark II that had this issue. I tried all of the suggested remedies, including what you have recommended. I really liked that rifle but it just would not reliably extract CCI ammo which was what it preferred. I never found any non CCI ammo that would shoot halfway decent. I moved on to a CZ 457.

Sorry so late with the reply.. I purchased a Mark II FVSR about a year ago. It came from the factory with the incorrect ejector set. The ejector set is two different parts on the bolt. Mine came with two of the rounded parts instead of one sharp and one rounded. I notified Savage through email with a photo of the issue and they fixed it by sending the correct set for no cost to their credit. Very happy with the service. Just thought I would let it be known to maybe double check them. Good luck!!!
