I am wanting/needing a new scope for one of my rifles. I had a basic set of parameters I was looking for. I have done lots of searching and looking and have narrowed it down to two scopes.

Vortex Viper PST gen 2, FFP, 5-25x50 https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1021202927?pid=881710

Bushnell Forge, FFP 4.5-27x50 https://www.midwayusa.com/product/102005356?pid=199419

I was not aware until I started looking that there was a gen 2 viper pst. I have (what I guess is now called a gen 1) viper pst 6-24x50 ffp on my AR10. I have been very happy with it and it is a great scope. I also have a vortex golden eagle on one of my savages. Love it as well.
I also have a few bushnell scopes ranging from a couple 3-9x40's on a couple rimfires, a 6-18x40 rimfire series on a custom 10/22, and a Engage 6-24x50 on a AR15. All of them I have been very happy with and have not had any issues with. I have always been very surprised with the picture clarity and glass quality on all of them for the money.

So I have experience with both brands and have been very happy with both brands. A local shop has a gen 2 viper I was able to put my hands on and look through and it was very impressive. I think a little tiny bit better than my gen 1. I have not been able to put my hands on the bushnell forge. However I doubt I would be disappointed. I saw a few reviews for them online and they are all great, however reviews can be bought or biased with anything.
Both scopes seem pretty closely matched with a few minor details different between the two. The reticles are both almost just alike. The bushnell has a little extra magnification which I like, but it is not a deal breaker on the vortex. The vortex has a illuminated reticle, but that is not a deal breaker on the bushnell. The bushnell is about $50 cheaper, which is not that big of a deal.

Right now I am completely on the fence between the two. Just looking for some extra input from others. I would really love to find someone who has put hands on/used both of these exact models and get some first hand opinions. However that might be hard to find.

I just bought the Vortex you're talking about and could not be happier with it.

You can get a better price on the Vortex here with the 2D reticle: https://www.eurooptic.com/Vortex-Viper-PST-5-25x50-EBR-2D-MRAD-FFP-PST-5257.aspx

Only problem is that is a mrad scope. I am going to stick to moa, because everything I have and everything I have used is moa. I do not see the point in changing now.

Haven't been behind a PST Gen 2, but have been very happy with my Gen 1 6-24x.

Can't recall if you're a lefty or not, but the throw lever on the Force will prevent you from being able to cycle the bolt when at lower magnifications. Have run into this on several different scopes with fixed throw levers now and it's one of my biggest gripes about them as a lefty because they're all positioned to ensure clearance for a RH bolt through the magnification range.

I'll echo that sentiment, really like mine too.

After lots of deliberation, I finally decided on the vortex I linked above. I placed the order last night.
