I am pretty new at reloading and am in need of some advice on what is the most accurate and best hunting bullet out there to load for a savage 300 WSM. I have attemted to work up a load useing Barns bullets but can't find a load that shoots better than factory ammo and money is tight so I can't afford to spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars trying to narrow down all of the different powder, bullet, brass and primer combinations to find a good load.

Currently I am getting 3 shot groups at or slightly larger than MOA at 100 yards with factory ammo, where I hunt we have shot opportunities at deer, large hogs and coyotes out to 500-600 yards.

Thanks in advance

I haven't loaded for 300WSM but I have for several 300wm's and 30-06's and for me the 165 gr. Sierra Game king is hard to beat. It will shoot right with a lot of target bullets and performs good on game. I use IMR 4350 or 4831 depending what I am loading.

Thanks for the info, have you had any experience with Nosler?

I also load the 165 grain Gameking in my .308 and it hits deer hard. It is also my most accurate load in that rifle.

Looks like I will be working up a load with the Sierra Game King to see how it performs.

Yes the 180gr Accubond in the 300winchesters and it is a real good shooter and game bullet, but expensive.

I always had good accuracy/performance with Nosler 150's in my 30-06, Georgia deer dropped DRT.

Nosler 165 gt BT's work pretty well with mine and are a little easier on the pocketbook. My load for them was a near-max load of IMR 4831 with Fed 210M primers and trued-up Winchester brass. I was using the load data from Hodgdon's web site. They shoot the accubonds about the same. I found that playing with seating depth really paid off with this load, and I ended up seating them at 2.91" OAL.

Nosler 180 gr Accubonds is what I'm shooting now, with Fed 210M primers and Norma brass, with a near max load of H4831sc from Nosler's web site. I have these loaded at 2.87".

I'm hesitant to post exact loads as every rifle is different and the working pressure range for WSM's is on the high side, but mine are usually within half grain of max.

Give the 180 grain Swift Sciracco's a try. They are a great performer in my 300 WSM.

Hard to beat the Sierra gamekings, I run the 150s in my 308 and the 180s in my 300 WM, great accuracy in both, I took a cow elk last year with the 308 at 275 yards and the bullet mushroomed clear down to where the boat tail starts and was still together.
And for only a couple bucks more per box, you get 100 gamekings instead of 50 Noslers.

nother vote for the 165 gamekings. my rifles prefer the hollow points. they seem very tolerant of jump, powder etc. i shoot them in my 300wsm over a moderate charge of 4007ssc, but ive had good results w varget an the 4350s as well.

Have done a lot with the 300WSM. The most accurate factory ammunition I ever used in each of four Savage 300WSM's was 165g Federal Fusion. Great stuff! At least in the Savage rifles.

Another thumbs up for Federal fusion. With a three shot group I can cover a penny at 100yrds with my 270WSM Tikka lite.
