I just purchased an Axis in 6.5CM. Until I decide on the aftermarket stock to install, I am wondering how many have bedded their factory synthetic stock?

I found these pillars on ebay and thought about installing them. Is it even worth the effort on a synthetic stock?

If I am you, I definitely think it is worth it. Your going to epoxy the pillars in you might as well gouge out some spots to bed.

I don't see a stock listed for an Axis, Just for the 10 or variants.

I did a factory Stevens 200 flemsy stock and added pillars. I was not expecting the improvement that resulted.

I did a little tinkering with my Axis factory stock ; filled with Rockite, JB weld bedding and stiffened up the magazine area with epoxy. A good low cost learning experience. The added weight makes for more pleasant shooting but the rifle ended up a bit heavy for packing around. The attempt to stiffen the weak area around the trigger guard didn't do much as the added weight of the stock makes for even more stress on this area I feel. The crappy bedding job I did... well actually may have helped, my groups no longer string off the target from right to left, they stay centered pretty well.

Last trip to the range - 4 groups of identical powder, primmer and bullet, but different COAL. Best was 3 shots at 0.65". 7mm-08, 43 grains IMR 4350, 160 grain Nosler Partition and Winchester Primer. COAL was 2.77.
For a budget rifle I am pretty happy with that and my tinkering is done.

For a pack rifle will save up for a light weigh Browning on Weatherby I think.
