A 168gr AMAX over 44.2gr Varget gives me around 2650fps in my 12FV. Very low ES and has put up some pretty good 600yd scores at Talladega.

I hardly shoot factory ammo, but the 175gr Federal Gold Medal Match also shoots very well in the rifle out to 600. Velocity was about 2575fps IIRC.

Yep, if you are competing in precision rifle against those with jacketed bullets you need to follow suit. Cast won't get there.

In some venues even buying the normal bullets won't get you there either. Have to go to the custom makers or at least 'point' your own. Just depends on the level you are competing at.I've found its pretty much not bergers and losing to those using bergers are the 2 main categories I've noticed

Ted, I thought that was a joke until I started focusing on F-Class. Turns out that at any match above club level it is pretty much the rule.

This is interesting. This guy is pushing .308 PC'd GC'd bullets up to 3000 fps accurately out to 500 yards.

I have a Savage 10 CFP-K .308 with a 1:10 twist. It's one of the law enforcement series rifles.

My load is 168 grain Nosler Custom Competition bullet seated to 2.800" OAL and 39.0 grains of H-4895. The manual says in a 24" barrel that gives 2412 fps.

Not a hot load by any means but it's extremely accurate in my rifle. It's not unusual to get 1/2 MOA with it.

JohnRS here’s a couple of tips hopefully that will help you along your journey, accuracy (tight Groups) starts at your loading bench. Starting off use just one brand of primers at a time, use or fine tune your load with one bullet at a time. Keep tight tolerances on your brass lengths, and OAL. Following these tips that was past down to me back in the 1980’s from a old 308 shooter, has produced .5 groups for me over the years.
