anyone else see this? I have been unable to purchase one. Spent 4 hours with customer service. Let me know if any of you guys figure it out. The price is unbelievable.

Have you tried calling the store and see if they can order you one at that price?

Yes, I live in Va and I tried both stores. They are out of stock. I said I will gladly pay now and wait until it comes in. They won’t let you do that. Even asked about a rain check

All the stores (5) that come up show "OUT OF STOCK".

That is a great price, but the original price listed ($849) doesn't seem right for that model.

List price is about $1300 (https://www.savagearms.com/content?p=firearms&a=product_summary&s=19136), and I didn't think Bass Pro discounted that much normally.

I know. My only guess is since they are no longer using the HS precision vertical grip stock they just clearance the last ones that they had. For those lucky gas it found a deal before us, they got an exceptional deal

I’m curious to know the difference between the Basspro 12 lrp and Cabelas 12 fv, other than the stock.

LRP has large shank barrel vs small shank 12fv
LRP had 1” fluted barrel vs .83 straight 12fv
LRP had target accutrigger (down to .6 lbs) vs varmint accutrigger (just under 2lbs usually)

What does the Model 12 LRP use now?

Looking at savages website, I think I am wrong about that. Looks like they still have the HS stock

They changed the page to read - "Currently not available online".

No price or info at all now.

I'm out of town on vacation so I called the closest BassPro (Pearland, TX). None in stock and not available to order...

The LRP also has the HS Precision stock, which is significantly different and more expensive than the standard FV stock.

The LRP is also a target action and has the small ejection port on the side instead of most of the top being open. It has a closed top with small ejection port. Pretty sure the FV is a regular open top action on top of being small shank.

I have both the 12 LRP and 12 FV in 6.5mm Creedmoor.
The 12 LRP cost $ 1095 delivered.
The 12 FV cost $ 320 delivered.

Nathan Gravitt and efm77 both are right about the differences.
Both have 26-inch barrels.
In addition, the 12 LRP has a Savage detachable magazine.
The HS Precision stock has an aluminum shaft giving it rigidity.
The 12 FV has a hidden magazine. The factory stock does not have an aluminum shaft so the stock flexes on recoil.
I replaced it with an Oryx aluminum chassis and the flex is gone.

My 12 LRP came from the factory with a 10 oz. trigger.
The 12 FV came from the factory with a 1 lb. 14 oz. trigger.
Interestingly, both shoot about the same with the same bullets (even with the flexible factory stock on the 12 FV).

BTW-

The red trigger assembly from Savage is north of $500 by itself.

Can you buy just the trigger? Was told they wouldn’t sell target trigger?

Internet rumor has it that a gunsmith/ffl can purchase it. Not sure what the retail price is, but there are aftermarket options out there that are viable replacements if the red blade trigger is too much.

The Bass Pro link for the Model 12 LRP in 6.5 CM is showing a price again - https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/savage-12-long-range-precision-bolt-action-rifle?irclickid=zr1XEI2dNxyOULX0MdV3iVCmUknWSG3x1U T7Ws0&irgwc=1&hvarAID=impact

Price is now $849.

Still showing out of stock in stores in my area, and Ship To is showing "Not Available". That differs from the previous notation of - "Currently not available online" and no price listed.

Not sure what that means - can you buy one or not?

You can find used ones, sometimes new and unused for sale on this and other forums. It's an easy replacement on any top release action 10,11, 12. Many Savage owners swap out the Target trigger for an aftermarket trigger and sell off the original. I've paid between $0 and $75 for the 5 that I've accrued.
