Does anyone know anything about model number 22760 (UPC 011356227607)? I've seen this model in a couple of places but cannot find any information online. The one I seen had digital camo stock and a scope factory mounted. I'm new to Savage and am looking at getting a budget rifle in 22-250 caliber for some small varmit/coyote hunting. Just don't want to get some cheap store brand model that is of lesser quality.

Common model numbers for the Axis II:
22550
57091
57102
57480
57100
57366

Thanks,
Ricky

My .223 Axis is one of the Walmart specials. Got it cause it had a heavy barrel which is not usual for the Axis. After a few hundred rounds it became a 1/2" rifle. It has over 2500rnds through it and is still good for .5 MOA with good bullets. Mine loves the 69 and 77gn SMK's. I mostly shoot the cheap Hornady 55gn FMJBT bullets but they are only good for 3/4" to 1". Out to 300yd they are fun and cheap.

But, Axis rifles can be worse. If I were to do it over again I'd go to Cabela's and get a 12FV while they are on sale.

I've looked into the TC and Ruger American along with Savage and a couple others. This question came from a deal I seen on an Axis II which seems hard to beat, but the odd model number has me concerned. 22760 is not one I can find anywhere. It claimed to have the accu-trigger, pics showed digital camo, and the scope is 4-12 instead of the usual 3-9. I guess maybe a call to Savage could answer my question.

Charlie, Good to hear it was a good purchase with the Walmart special. From what I read, 22-250 loves the Hornady V-Max 55gn as well.

If the price is right and you like the specs then go for it. I don't think Savage makes a "crappy" version of the Axis II that is inferior to you see in the catalog. They put together special combinations for vendors all the time.
