Both of these loads give me 10 shot groups @ 100 .500 or less.

In my 26 inch stainless Savage. No matter what I am shooting this is the only load used in this rifle. It is so accruate why try anything else?
for recoil very mild.
Hornady sst's and amax's are just as good

Okie,

What is exactly your load? I am helping a friend work up a load for his new Shilen 308 barrel using 175 Berger VLD, Laupa brass, and IMR4895. My most accurate load in my Rem 700 VS is with IMR4895 & 168 SMK. Barely running at 2500 fps, the recoil is minimal and my 9 yr old shot it a lot. Sub-0.5 at 100 yd was the norm, but it didn't do so good at 300 yds.

Anyway, I would like to know what charge of H4895 you settled on. tiny

Try some Win 760 and 168's. Speed will increase a touch, accuracy will be very good, and it is a ball powder.

During the powder shortage here, worked this up for a shooting buddy, and were PLEASANTLY surprised with the results. Will not be going back to Varget or the like.

I agree with DCLOCO ...I tried the combination of Win760 and 168 gr bullet. Got 3 shot sub 1/2 inch group 100 yards.
