Has anyone shortened the factory extended bolt handle?

It looks like the end may be threaded onto the arm. I like it better than the stock handle, but it's just a bit too long. Can you mill off some and reattach it?

Anyone done it?

Thanks.

You could put it in a small three jaw and turn the end off if the jaws are not too long. You might get away with putting in it in a larger collet holder and do the same. You could drill some clamping plates for a mill vise and mill the end off. Then you could use a number 5 or 6 center drill to lighten it up and give it a more hollow look. some people have cut the whole thing off and threaded the end and added a custom made Knob. Others have sold theirs and put something like SSS or a large round savage piece on. Donskey!

I bought a large round knob from Gun Shack......it's just right, larger than a hunting rifle bolt handle, and not as goofy as the extended.

If you want to trade that tactical handle for a knob style let me know...

My rifle came with the knob-style handle, and I replaced it with the Tac knob, but it's just soooo big...

What about having your factory sporter handle threaded and then you can put on whatever knob you want!? I’ve had three of mine done already and to me they are balanced perfectly. Or should I say balanced. Not to small and not to large.

Go to the members build section (need to be logged in) and you can look at the pictures of a couple of the rifles there.
