I've been wanting to start a project on a bolt rifle and just slowly upgrade it over time as i get the cash available. I wanted to start with a 110 series or a remington 700. I had been leaning toward the 700 due to the ability to easily upgrade it to accept box mags, but yesterday I found a screaming deal on a used 111 in 30-06, and I'm wondering if there's any easy way to get it to accept box mags without too steep an investment. If it helps the stck was my 1st intended upgrade.

First you have to find the magazine. Who makes a .30-06 box magazine? To fit the BAR? Then you have to find someone who makes the lower "metal" or plastic bracket for the opening.

I just hooked up with Tom Snyder who modifies a Savage magazine with a H&K G3 lower to make a 10 round magazine with a solid button catch. But that's based on a .308 magazine.

I was thinking along the lines of accepting AICS mags

EAB (E. Arthur Brown) has the parts for the stagger-feed style. https://www.eabco.net/Savage-Detachable-Magazine-Conversion-Bottom-Metal--Long-Action-Bottom-Metal-for-Staggerfeed_p_15383.html

Accurate-Mag.com lists "bottom metal" but not as currently available. https://accurate-mag.com/bottom-metals/
