serial number location stevens 200

I have to get the sn off my stevens 200 358 win that i put a rattle-can paint job on.
can someone tell me exactly where on the receiver the number is so i have to do as little scraping of the finish as possible to find it?

I’m sorry...scraping off the finish? Not following you. The serial number is stamped into the metal very deeply..several thous. in fact. You shouldn’t have to scrape any finish whatsoever. It should be readily visible on the front top right side of the action I believe. I could be wrong on location.

You missed the part of my statement that this rifle has a rattle can camo job on it. so the sn was covered. i found the sn... it's on the upper left side of the rear of the receiver... i could barely make out two numbers through the paint... so i scraped it off to get the sn. will plan a repair job soon.

I did! Wow! Thick paint to cover up completely! I’ve done many “home brew” paint jobs on firearms, and never had one completely cover SN.
