Hello. I am new to this forum but have been collecting and shooting for over 60 years. My primary areas are Springfield 1903's and variants as well as Model 12 Winchesters. I am also a certified NRA shotgun and pistol instructor. That said, I recently acquired a very nice Savage 1899F saddle ring carbine in SAV .30 (30-30) chambering. The serial number is 19,079 which one source indicates 1900 and the Blue Book 1901. I tend to believe the first, but confirmation would be welcome. This rifle is in overall 85%+ and the barrel 95%. The stock is in fine shape and the bore pristine. The saddle ring is present and the case colored lever is fine shape. It sports the original leaf rear sight as well as a Savage #18 tang sight. It has never been refinished. All roll marks are raised and very sharp. I would appreciate any info concerning serial number ranges for this model marked SAV .30 I understand that the 1899's were only so marked for a short time over a fairly small serial number range.. Thanks in advance.
