.45 ACP "low-flash" powder

Anybody load .45 ACP?

I'm looking for a clean burning powder that produces a low muzzle flash with 230 gr bullets.

Will be shooting from a Colt 1911 and a Glock 30.

Hmm...I don't know.

I run HS6 in everything from 357, 44 mag, 40 S & W, & 45 ACP.

Anybody???

I run Blue Dot in my 45ACP and my 44 Mag. I have fired both in the dark, in the 44 mag I get alot of flash, in my 45ACP I get very little. My 45 has a 5" barrel. I tried my load in my buddies 45 with a 3.5" barrel and got some flash, not a lot but some. Thought I would share that for what its worth. I will say that Blue Dot burns very clean in both calibers.

231 and Unique work for my needs - don't know if they are "low flash" or not but I find the 45 to be generally low flash to begin with (compared to other defense rounds).

If you are using jacketed bullets I'd recommend Hodgdon Clays or Titegroup. I don't like Titegroup with lead bullets - too much smoke! Hodgdon Clays works with both and is very clean burning too.

I use clays with my .38 Special Cowboy loads as well as my 12-Gauge.

I noticed when using very low charges of Clays (3.5 gr) behind 105 gr TC lead bullet I get quite a bit of "flash" out of my cowboy guns and out of a S&W J-frame.
