Has anyone ever tried the 6br in a sporter weight barrel before? I was curious because I might get one to use for deer hunting.

It should be fine, you might want to look into the 6x47 lapua instead because it will feed from a std 308 mag alot better.

Well I already have the dies and brass for the 6br and nothing for the 6x47. BTW I am still interested in the 300 whisper barrel just waiting on the funds.
